There is a restaurant “The Lost Kitchen” in the very centre of the capital, on Volodymyrivska street. It is on the first floor of an old house.
Original interior is stylised for Kyiv aristocrats home of the early twentieth century. The hall is dominated by pastel colours, the walls are decorated with mirrors in ornate frames, carved furniture is made of natural wood, old books, rare pianos, chests of drawers are used as decor elements.
Menu is divided into two parts: the first one lists the popular dishes of Ukrainian and European cuisine according to the recipes of the 21st century, and the second part is devoted to traditional dishes of Ukrainian cuisine of the 19th century, the recipes of which are taken from book, dated the beginning of the twentieth century.
Special children's menu is developed in the restaurant.
Specialties of the house are:
- turkey pâté with toast,
- homemade sausages with fried potatoes,
- julienne in a pancake bag,
- pancakes with poppy seeds,
- chicken broth with homemade noodles,
- duck in honey glaze,
- derun with egg poached and herring caviar,
- borshch with bovine tail and buns,
- pork loin with potatoes in selyanski,
- cutlet in Kyiv,
- rabbit's leg with celery mash,
- pike cutlet with a beetroot.
Special desserts are Kyiv cake, Napoleon cake with custard, strudel with apples and ice-cream, cheese cake with vanilla sauce. Selected brands of Ukrainian and European wines, special ale are offered.
