There is a restaurant "Pervak" in the centre of Kyiv, in a few minutes walk from the metro station "Ploshcha Lva Tolstogo”.
There are eight halls, interior of which is designed in retro-style with antique objects of everyday life as a decoration. Hall "Khreshchatyk" is divided into two zones with ancient staircase, and the hall itself is decorated with antiquarian things, old buffet, samovar and dishes, signboards and newspapers. This hall recreates the atmosphere of a street cafe in the centre of the capital. The hall ”Khreshchatyk" is equipped as summer area by removing the glass windows-walls during warm season. The hall serves as a winter garden in cold time. There is a hall-gallery, decorated with retro photos and a gramophone, on the second floor. Also there are halls "Bessarabka" and "Obzhornyi ryad“, equipped with salad bar, and live music sounds here in the evenings. "Library" hall has a fireplace.
Menu includes traditional dishes of Ukrainian cuisine. The main emphasis is made on the first dishes, varenyky, grill-menu. Guests can order complex business-lunches on weekdays.
Specialties of the house are:
- Ukrainian borsch with pampushkas, garlic and lard,
- boiled pork with grilled vegetables,
- baked leg of lamb with potatoes and bell pepper,
- duck with pear and cherry flambe,
- rabbit in creamy sauce,
- turkey stuffed with spinach and cheese,
- pork steak with stewed cabbage and porcini mushrooms,
- fried pork with deruny,
- halibut steak with asparagus,
- pike-perch with oyster sauce.
There are dessert "Capricious Mamzel" and eclairs with vanilla cream. There is also a souvenir shop in the restaurant, where guests can buy special tinctures or handmade vyshyvankas.
